Mission Beach Tattoo (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a tattoo studio at 3215 Mission Blvd, San Diego, CA 92109. This policy explains what personal information we collect through missionbeachtattoo.com (the “site”), how we use it, who else handles it, and what choices you have. It describes what the site actually does today. If you have a question about any of it, email info@missionbeachtattoo.com or call (858) 488-8282.
This Privacy Policy is paired with our Terms of Service.
This policy covers the website and the ways you contact us through it. Paperwork you fill out in person at the shop is handled at the shop and is not collected through this site.
The short version
- We collect what you type into our contact form, including any photos you upload, and basic visit data through Google Analytics.
- We use it to answer your questions, schedule tattoos, and keep the site working and improving.
- If you agree to receive text messages from us, we use your mobile number only to text you about your request. We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
- We do not sell your personal information, and the site does not take payments.
- You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your information at any time.
Information you give us through the contact form
Our Contact page has a form. When you send it, we collect the details you choose to enter:
- Your name and email address (required).
- A description of the tattoo you want and your message (required).
- Your mobile or other phone number, if you choose to include one in the form or your message, and whether you agree to receive text messages from us.
- Optional details: placement on the body, size preference, how you would like us to reach you (text, call or email), and a preferred date or time.
- Optional reference photos you upload.
- Your confirmation that you consent to our use of this information to respond to you.
Please do not put anything in the form you do not want us to have. If you choose to mention health details, such as allergies or skin conditions, we use them only to respond to your request.
What happens to a form submission. When you send the form, it is (1) emailed to our studio inbox, info@missionbeachtattoo.com, and (2) saved in the WordPress database behind this site as a backup record, where only site administrators can see it. Uploaded photos are stored in the site’s file storage on our web host, and the email we receive contains a link to the file. Photos are not shown publicly, but anyone with the exact file link could open it, so please do not upload images you consider highly sensitive.
We also see your information if you email info@missionbeachtattoo.com or call or text us directly, and we keep those messages in our email system and phones.
Text messages (SMS)
This section applies to text messages from Mission Beach Tattoo. Our full SMS rules are in our SMS Messaging Terms & Conditions.
- What we collect for texting: your mobile phone number, your name, the date and way you agreed to receive texts (for example, the form checkbox or a text you sent us first), the content of the messages we exchange, and your opt-out (STOP) requests.
- Why: only to respond to your inquiry, schedule or confirm appointments, send appointment reminders, and provide customer service. We do not send promotional text messages unless you separately agree to receive them.
- Consent is optional. You do not have to agree to receive texts to contact us, book, or get a tattoo. You can use the form, email or phone instead.
- Message frequency: message frequency varies and depends on your conversation with us, typically a few messages for each inquiry or appointment.
- Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier may charge you for messages you send or receive.
- Opting out and help: reply STOP at any time to stop receiving text messages, or reply HELP for help. You can also email info@missionbeachtattoo.com or call (858) 488-8282.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your mobile number and your text-message consent are not shared with anyone for their marketing. The only companies that handle your text-message information are service providers that deliver the messages for us, namely our messaging platform provider (Twilio, Inc.) and the mobile carriers that carry the messages. They process the information only to send, receive and route our messages for us and are not allowed to use it for their own marketing.
Information collected automatically
Server logs. Our web host records standard technical data when anyone visits the site, such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested and the date and time. This is used to keep the site secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-RD2WFMT23G), provided by Google LLC, to understand how many people visit, which pages they view, how they found us, and roughly where they are (city or region level, derived from IP address) and what kind of device they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_RD2WFMT23G) to recognize a browser across visits and pages. We use these reports only to improve the site and understand what visitors need. We do not use Google Analytics to identify you personally, and we do not upload any list of customers to it. Google’s own handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. On this site:
- Analytics cookies: the two Google Analytics cookies described above. They last up to about two years unless you delete them sooner.
- No advertising or social media tracking cookies. We do not run advertising pixels on this site. Our Facebook, Instagram and TikTok icons are ordinary links and do not load those companies’ tracking code until you click them.
- Cookies set by embedded content: the Google Map on our Contact page is provided by Google and may set its own cookies when it loads. We do not control those cookies.
- The site itself does not set cookies for ordinary visitors. Cookies are used for administrators who log in to manage the site.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on to stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits. The site works normally either way. Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal. Because we do not sell or share your information for advertising, these signals do not change how our site handles your data.
Google Business Profile, Maps and reviews
We manage a Google Business Profile for the studio, which is how Mission Beach Tattoo appears on Google Search and Google Maps. When you find us there, Google handles your searches, directions requests, calls, messages and reviews under Google’s own privacy policy. We receive summary activity reports from Google (for example, counts of views, calls and direction requests) and we can see the name and content of reviews you choose to post publicly and any messages you send us through the profile. We use these only to respond to you and understand how customers find us. Our Contact page links to Google’s review page and shows an embedded Google Map of the shop, which loads content from Google and shares your IP address and browser details with Google when the page loads.
Other third-party services we use
- Web hosting and content delivery (Hostinger). The site is hosted by Hostinger, which stores the site’s files and database (including saved form submissions and uploads), delivers pages to you through its content delivery network, and keeps server logs. Hostinger also provides the site builder, caching and, on this site, a “Reach” script (loaded from cdn-reach.hostinger.com) that supports email-signup forms. We do not currently display a signup form on the site; if we add one, it would collect the email address you enter, and we would update this policy.
- Google Fonts. Some pages load fonts from Google’s font servers (fonts.googleapis.com), which means your IP address and browser details are sent to Google when the page loads.
- Text messaging (Twilio and mobile carriers). If you agree to receive texts, we use Twilio, Inc. as our messaging service provider to send and receive them, and mobile carriers carry the messages. They handle your phone number and message content only to deliver our messages, as described in the Text messages (SMS) section above.
- Email delivery. Form notifications and our email correspondence with you pass through our email provider and the WordPress mail system on our host.
- Domain registrar. Our domain name registrar keeps the registration records for missionbeachtattoo.com. It does not receive information about site visitors.
- WordPress and plugins. The site runs on WordPress with Elementor (the page and form builder), All in One SEO (search optimization) and LiteSpeed Cache (speed). These run on our own hosting account and are used to operate the site, not to send your data to the plugin makers.
- Social media. We link to our Facebook, Instagram and TikTok pages. If you click through, those platforms collect information under their own policies.
- Payment processors. This site does not sell anything and does not process payments, so no payment processor receives your card or financial information through the site. Payments for tattoos are handled in person at the shop.
We share your information with these providers only as needed to run the site and respond to you. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or safety, or in connection with a sale of the business.
How we use your information
- To reply to your questions and booking requests and to plan appointments.
- To contact you the way you asked (text, call or email), including appointment confirmations and reminders by text if you agreed to receive them.
- To keep the site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix technical problems.
- To understand visitor traffic and improve the site and its content.
- To meet legal obligations and resolve disputes.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for automated decisions that significantly affect you, and we do not use your form submissions for marketing emails unless you separately ask us to.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions, emails and uploaded photos for as long as we need them to respond to your request, schedule and complete your tattoo, and keep reasonable business records. After that, we delete them. Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in our Google Analytics account. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
Security
The site uses HTTPS encryption, and access to saved submissions is limited to site administrators. No website or email can be guaranteed completely secure, so please share only what you are comfortable sending.
Your rights and choices
Anyone can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that is wrong;
- delete your information;
- stop using your information for analytics, by blocking cookies or using the Google opt-out add-on above.
To make a request, email info@missionbeachtattoo.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line, or call (858) 488-8282. We may need to confirm your identity first, for example by matching the name and email address you used on the form. We will respond within 45 days, and if we need more time we will tell you why. We will not charge you or treat you differently for making a request.
California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, and to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act applies to us, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose and share, and the sources and purposes;
- Access the specific personal information we hold about you;
- Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising;
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. Any health-related details you choose to include in a message are used only to respond to you;
- Non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
Categories of personal information we collected in the past 12 months:
- Identifiers, such as name, email address, IP address and online identifiers (form, Google Analytics and server logs).
- Contact and customer-record information you provide, such as your tattoo request, message, mobile or other phone number, contact preferences, and text-message consent records (form and text messages).
- Internet or network activity, such as pages viewed, referring site and browser or device type (Google Analytics and server logs).
- Approximate location based on IP address, at city or region level (Google Analytics and server logs).
- Visual information, such as reference photos you upload (form).
- Any other information you choose to put in your message.
We collect this information directly from you and from your browser. We disclose it for business purposes only to the service providers listed above (our web host, Google Analytics, our email provider, and our text-messaging provider). We have not sold personal information in the past 12 months.
You may also use an authorized agent to make a request for you; we may ask for written proof that they are authorized. Under California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code section 1798.83), California residents may ask once a year which personal information we shared with third parties for their direct marketing; we do not share information for that purpose.
Children
Our site is intended for adults. Tattooing in California requires customers to be at least 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 through this site. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
Our site links to other websites, including Google, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and the current version is always on this page.
